Just had the washer decide it wanted to dance around the kitchen making the most unholy row. I'd managed to overload it without realising so when it started the spin cycle one of the shock absorbers bounced straight out of its socket and decided to try and chisel a hole in the floor.
Fortunately no lasting harm done and its fixed now but that was a seriously nervous hour as I couldn't get the water/clothes out to make fixing it simpler. Final solution was to tip it to about 45 degrees put something under the drum to prop it up - lower the washer back down. With the top off so i could get in it was just do-able.
Wasnt so much the idea of a new washer that worried me as the unholy mess that this one was going to make. Still all's well that ends well, fingers crossed anyhow.
