So much for a smooth upgrade
PC upgrades gone fubar. Looks like the heat-sink I got was a dodgy one with a really poor base surface. Looked ok to sight but when I actually touched it it was like sandpaper.
Even chance that the chips scratched, will be trying a new heat-sink later in week till then my net access is still intermittent as i'm swapping and changing machines(only got the one monitor atm). Failing that looks like ill have to buy another chip - not spending another £100 tho so it will have to bea cheap sempron or something just to get the machine working for now.
