Headline news

Sep 14, 2005 06:39

I was watching the news this morning, and on the second half hour, (that'd be 5:30-6:00 yes...AM)
and their lead story was this:

"President Bush accepts responsibility for government failures after Katrina."

Ok, now is it just me or is there something way outta whack here?
THAT is headline news???!!!
I'm all for Bush accepting responsibility, but you know, there used to be a time when that's what presidents actually did, they took responsibility!
Remember... "The buck stops here." ???
So, I listen to this marvel of a man, and yeah he accepted responsibility, but if you listen to what he actually said it's just so much more drivel.

"To the extent the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility."

(GLARING Usage mistakes aside) Does this sound rather WEAK for the leader of the free world?? A man who has been called "decisive" and "direct" ??
It sounds like he's scared to death about his poll numbers to me.
Just sickening.
I've GOTTA stop watching the news.
