Having given up on finding a freebie web host that will accommodate Front Page and 341 MB of fan art and fan fic, I've started throwing some of my *really old* stuff up on ff.net. Here they be: https://www.fanfiction.net/u/5246/GreenWillow
Hiya Jem! Yes indeed, I haven't been here in ages. I've seen your entries in ljidol (and I've totally forgotten how to do a link...)but not been able to comment (my fault, not lj's) I'm kind of poking around for a good critique group right now if you know of anyone who's doing novel chaps. What is AO3? I went with ff.net just cuz it's been around forever and I had an acc't there. What I posted there is stuff a few people had asked about that I had up on my own fan site a million years ago.
No worries, I'm just glad people are reading! :) Links are username where username is what you're linking.
I might -- I'm in a critique group for less than 10k words, and while everything so far has been short stories, there's nothing currently in the rules saying we can't take a chapter of a longer work. I've left a question for the mod, to doublecheck -- it's a relatively new endeavor, so it may not have come up yet.
AO3 is Archive of Our Own, a fanwork hosting site (fanart as well as fanfiction). It's currently invite-based, but I believe they allow you to ask for an invite (the invite is a way to make sure server space keeps up with the users, so you don't need to know anyone, they just have certain periods when invites are available, and then there'll be a pause while they make sure the servers are keeping up). One of the things I like is that you can have more than one name for a profile, so if you previously posted things under another name, you can repost them under the same name at the same time as you post newer stuff under the

Oh wow-- thank you! I'm probably late for this round, but I'll definitely look into it. Not sure my chapters will stand alone, though. I'll just talk to her and see what she says.
You're welcome! Each round starts Monday, so you're not late at all.
I think the stand-alone rule is largely because it's hard to give good feedback if you don't know what's going on, so there needs to be enough context that even if everyone has forgotten (because there will be weeks between chapters, since we go around the group as evenly as possible), we can still give you input. You might be able to do a "previously, on GW's Novel" sort of blurb at the beginning? Something to ask her about, anyway. She's super nice.
Thank you again, Jem! I'm thinking maybe if this group's focus is on short stories if might be more of an imposition for me to ask for crits on my chapters.
(jem0000000 threw up the Jenn-signal, and here I am. :) )
We're focused on fiction writing, period. I'm fine with people submitting novel chapters as long as they meet the very loose guidelines I've given everyone-10,000 words or less, and the chapter has to stand on its own, i.e. you have to be able to give context in a paragraph or less. (It shouldn't require another 5,000 words to detail why the things that are happening in that chapter are happening, is another way to put it.)
If you're interested and would like to know more about it you're free to PM me. I'm happy to talk about it with anyone.
You're welcome! I don't know if it's our focus or not; it might just be what everyone's submitted -- we're only about six weeks in. That's a question for Kickthehobbit, I think.
I've seen a lot of people do AO3, but ff.net probably works just as well.

Actually, I thought it was friends-locked, since LJ hadn't pinged you when I linked the rules in. *shrug* LJ is strange.
