my tale of woe

7:30
I got to school and I was studying Spanish verbs all the while, and then I walk into Mr. Ballado's room.  Everybody there is practicing, testing the recorders, prepping and freaking out.  Then we get in Norse Hall, and the test begins.

8:00
Okay, we're all filling in bubbles, and the proctor, Mrs. Singh, realized that there was a missing test.  Then she counts the people, and realizes that Nancy Wang wasn't on the list because she was filling in for Ryan Henderson.  We were still wondering why there was a missing test, however, and she reads the list of test takers and guess what?  MY NAME IS MISSING.

Then I went down and talked to her, and she said I didn't sign up for the test, and that I would have to acquire the accounts clerk's signature.  So, I ran down to the accounts clerk and sure enough, the receipt said that I HAD paid for the test.  The mistake was that when Mrs. Singh entered the tests online, she had made a mistake and entered me for 2 stats tests, instead of stats and span.

I run back to Norse Hall and they haven't started the test yet, so there had been a 20 minute delay already.  Then the stupid proctor finally lets me take my test, but unfortunately, Nancy couldn't take it.

11:20
We go through the test relatively smoothly, but then the speaking part comes up, and we are given these crappy Collegeboard tapes for our tape recorders.  We put them into the previoiusly tested recorders (which worked fine) and yes, you guessed it, they didn't work.  So, about half the class was taken outside to Room 83 where we waited for the rest of the class to finish, at which time we could use their tape recorders to do our listening.  Too bad that the people in Norse Hall finished, and they immediately started the AP stats test in there, which I was taking too.  I couldn't take a bite out of my AP stats time, so Mrs. Singh told me to leave the Spanish speaking part till after the test.

4:00PM
Everybody's finally done with the AP Stats test, and then I go down to talk to the proctor about taking my speaking test, but she only had the original tape recorder I had, which DOESN'T WORK.  I tell her this, and she says, "It's not my fault you were unprepared!  If you can't find a tape recorder in the next two minutes, I'm done!  I'm leaving!  This has been dragging on too long, and it's too bad for you!"

At this point, I just ran out and started looking for Ballado, who wasn't in his classroom, which had all the tape recorders.  That locked door was....the breaking point, and I just started crying.  Finally, Trisha helped me find Ballado, who was practicing for Faculty Follies in Vahalla and we dragged him out to get a tape recorder for me.

We get back in Norse Hall, and now Mrs. Singh is all nice bubbly, acting like she was totally willing to help me.  RIGHT.  She also said, "Oh, I don't know what went wrong today!  It's just too bad!"  Right.  Like she didn't know that SHE entered the crap incorrectly, made Nancy miss her test, and made me run a total of probably a mile around school and stay this late.

5:00PM
Test is FINALLY over, and I just miss the bus.  Great.  Ah well...long story short, I finally got home at 7, but I met a nice freshman with funny eyes.

Moral of story: proctors SUCK.

EDIT: Apparently, it was not the proctor who messed up my stats + Spanish test; it was Ms. Mencken, but whatever....stupid proctor.
