I'm going to a friend/ex-co-worker's wedding next month. She and the groom are in their early twenties, have a ton of friends, although I'm not certain how many people were actually invited. I mean, we've hung out a bit, partied as each other's houses, etc, but we're not texting-at-1am close, so if I got an invite then I'm assuming the million plus friends that she plays post tag with on facebook will probably be there.
Anyhoo...normally, I'm the leopard print and heels with bright red lipstick sort when it comes to fancy-schmancy events, but I actually had something less vixen and more girlie in mind this time around.
I found this dress on Torrid online and it's almost exactly what I envisioned.
http://www.torrid.com/torrid/Clothing/Dresses//Blush+Pick-Up+Bubble+Tiered+Dress-526726.jsp# Because I kept picturing something in pink, yet I had an image of this exact style in a bright green.
What do you think?
My personal pros:
The style is just so me. I mean it's pink, it's girlie and it's poofy!
I like to make a statement. I'm an introvert so I tend to express myself through more creative outlets like fashion.
It's only $58.00!
Cons:
I'll be attending the event alone, and although I wouldn't be surprised to find a few old co-workers in the mix to possibly latch onto, I'm also afraid I may feel self-conscious sitting by myself in such a flamboyant dress.
I could be confused for one of the bridal party since it is such a formal dress. I have no idea what the wedding colors will be. If the invitation is any clue, then I don't have to worry in that aspect because they came in blue and black.
I also don't want to break the competing with the bridal gown taboo. Especially when you take a look at the back of the dress, you'll see a rather large bow. This could be muted down with a cover up, perhaps?
I do want to add that the couple has planned a reception to follow the next day, so do you guys think this may be more appropriate as a party dress?
*Sigh* I don't know. I guess if I'm coming on LJ to ask then the answer may be that this dress would be a bit much for the wedding itself, and that I'm hoping someone will convince me otherwise. This will only be the fourth wedding that I've ever attended, but the first in which I'm fairly certain the audience will largely be made up of people in their early-mid twenties, and with this style of dress being so popular, who knows, I may fit right in....
But...I LOVE THIS DRESS *cries*
Aaauuuggghhh! What do you guys think?
Edit: This is my second choice. It's a similar bubble tier design and I have the choice of blue with black sash, .like in the photo, or black/black, or teal (I LOVE teal) with black sash. I just found out that the wedding colors will be champaign and jade green so no worries about matching.
