Remember when you were a kid?

And all you focused on were the things you could do? And when we were proud of the things we were good at?

Why do we lose that as adults?

One could argue that reality simply sets in, but I think it's more that we're taught to be unselfish and realistic.
But whose business is it of anyone else to tell you what your realistic boundaries are?

Look at anyone who's had a sex change operation. That has to be the most determined, dedicated individual you'll ever meet in Western society. Why can't, or rather, why don't the rest of us apply that same sort of dedication and motivation to our own goals?

If we spent less time wallowing in self pity and inadvertently wasting even more time feeling guilty for wallowing in self pity, we'd have more time and energy to actually do something.
