So I got layed off from my job last week.
Say what you will, but I'm ecstatic at the thought of an extended hookie. I'm not kidding. I was becoming really depressed at being stuck in a well paying yet non-challenging position. And for weeks prior, I daydreamed at an ex/ob sessive rate about finding a reason to get the f*** out of Reno for a bit. So now my mom, grandma and I are mapping out ideas for spifftastic roadtrips. I'd like to keep it simple and make a short trek over to San Francisco and spend a few days getting lost in the city by the Bay, rather than spending a few hours looking for a place to park and then turning around and driving back home like usual. But of course the Sierras are a bitch to cross this time of year. We've also considered driving back to Albuquerque and Santa Fe, and almost took it a bit too far when we thought we'd roll Griswald-style across the deep south and hit all the major cities below the Mason-Dixie line like Houston and New Orleans before reaching our final destination of Miami, Fl. But Miami is for the jet set, b******.
So it looks as though Portland and Seattle may be in our future. If it'd stop snowing in that region. Seriously? Snow? Aren't these the cities of grunge, coffee, and RAIN? I could handle some rain!
