OK brace yourselves, this could get a little messy....
1)
Recently, an Aussie reporter (some chick I've forgotten, but she was on CH7) was making comment about the Californian bushfires - a terrible thing, as almost all Aussies are aware living in the land of sea & fire as we do. Now, reporting on these fires is a good thing certainly, but when asked what she thought of George W.(anker) Bush's fast response to the crises, all she mustered up was something along the lines of, "Oh yeah, he's done a great job getting the support out to those who needed it. It's clear that he's learnt from the Hurricane Catrina fiasco..."
W.T.F.???????
Am I the only one who looks at these two incidents - both tragedies in their own right, & I am NOT making light of the devestation of either event - & thinks to himself, gee-wiz Gerorge W. reacxted real quick to the fires in California...Hollywood....where there is so much money floating about.....& so many rich, white affluent American voters having their houses burnt down....Yup, he responded real quick & got the assistance out there to help those poor rich folk, whose multi-million-dollar mansion burnt down.
(Yes, I am aware that folks with lower income brackets were affected too)
Let's compare though shall we? California (at least in my mind) = rich, affluent, white, probably more christians than you could poke a stick at.
New Orleans (at least in my mind) = not-so-rich-to-poor, not-so-affluent, black, sinful.... Yeah, I'm letting my gay prejudeces spill out that last "sinful" comment...Deal!
If George had've responded as quickly to the Catrina disater as he has to the Hollywood fires, many, many more people would still be alive, I'm sure. It disgusts me how apparent this is. Yes, yes, welcome to cynical island - population...me. I know, but it just seems so clear to me.....
2)
Well, I did what I said I wouldn't do...I bought the new SAGA edition RPG book! Dammit! heheheheee
First thing you notice is the shape & size of the book - yes the shape. It's square....Not rectangular like a normal book, but square. Yes it's a gtrivial thing, but it caught me by suprise.
Plenty of new changes to the rules system, even though it stays as a d20 base system. Most notably are the removal of Armour Class, a major shortening of the Skills list, the removal of the SW d20 systems Vitality points, the addition of talents & 'talent trees', the removal of a few classes & the addition of the condition track.
Damn I'm geeking out... I should stop, but so far I'm really impressed with what they've done. Apparently some of these changes are what will be getting released in the "New" D&D 4th Edition....*sigh*, this time they get no money from me for a new edition of D&D....I swear. Honest. Bastards.
Anyhoo, the new Saga rules rock. There are one or two things that might need some play-testing, but generally, I likey muchoey.
3)
This coming Halloween marks our third anniversary! I'm a little suprised that he has put up with me this long, but I'm very glad he has. He's getting a nice pressy too, but I can't tell you what it is in case he reads this...so nerr....
I love him so much it hurts some days. Other days I feel like hurting myself for the way that I've spoken to him, or because I've been a slacker & not helped out as much as I should.
*sigh* >>insert gooey mooshy sensaton here<<
4)
Every night this week, I've woken up at least three times. Generally speaking, each time I rouse I'm awake for at least an hour. I hate my sleeping patterns.
5)
If you've stayed with it this far, you are officially bored. Go have a nap.
Ciao.
