Yeah, I kmow I'm not Robinson Crusoe, but I'm the only one at the nursery who is working these sort of hours. The cash is good to be sure, especially after my little 'wrist-hiatus', but considering all the other permanents work 8-10 days out of 14 (including TAFE), I'd like a little bit of equality. As a Trainee, I'm supposed to be doing a 5-day week, including one day at TAFE. To be fair, Carol - the head Hort. - told me that if I'm not happy to talk to the boss & she'd back me. I said that I'd ride out this next fortnightly roster, & then if it repeats again, I'd talk to him. She smiled & said ok. Nice to know that I've got the support of the only one there that really seems to know what she's doing! heheheheee
Now that I've let that little gripe out...
Work is great! Between deliveries, loading trailers & the like, serving customers, planting out beds around the nursery, weeding the displays, doing a bit of mowing, potting up when needed & rearranging things that look a little shabby, I'm as content as the proverbial pig in mud! They fixed up my pay rate too - they paid me about three dollars an hour less than they should have for my first two days work. A simple mistake that the office girly - Sandy - revealled to me & then fixed, including the back-pay into my latest pay. Nice girl.
So, yeah work is good. The only real gripe has been the roster, well that & a "lady" named Lee. Lee is in charge of the furniture/outdoor-setings side of things. A nice lady, but finicky to an extreme. Especially when she asks you to move a 65Kg concrete urn from one place to another...then another...then another......then back again.........then to another spot.......
I think you get what I mean without me typing the next 17 placements of said urn.....*sigh*
It's going to be a busy week ahead too. Monday we have to lay a 2m² slab of concrete to put a new water feature on. It's a big'n, that's for sure, very formal too. Then on friday, we have a local radio station (2KO I think), broadcasting from the nursery. I think this is to celebrate a birthday for the nursery - could be wrong, but that's what I seem to remember hearing some time last week. Then it's SALE! SALE! SALE! all weekend! We've got 15% off all Pots & between 5% & 30% off plant stock - if my memory serves... heheheheee.
Should keep me pretty busy!
Anyhoo, I'd best be offing & doing some house-work!
Enjoy!
