To begin with, let's discuss the article that made me want to post to this journal, and
why did it take this long to figure this out? After that, let's see...I'm in Ashland, Oregon, and Moonflower has moved along south. So of course, life has improved, because she had decided in Eugene to be in Hell, and now I'm not trying to drag someone out of the infernal pit. Ashland wants me to live here, more and more evidence appearing every day. I sent out a mass email about two days ago to various friends and people I met in my travels and have had an overwhelming response just in the ~20 responses I've received so far--I am blessed in the friends I have, even if I can't ever get them in one place (and if you didn't receive it, leave me a comment, I'm sure it was only because I don't have a working email address for you or something like that).
I arrived here on Thursday, worn out from a night playing music outside the Widespread Panic show where I was showered with gifts and made some dollars and somehow really hurt--though managed not to lose--my voice. Moonflower ran into some folks I'd met in Olympia who were headed south, and after the show that's where we went, camping late that night up in the hills outside of town. Thursday met Colin, Emily, Wendy and some other folks, played music, and discovered a bread dumpster as abundant (if not more so) than the Ithaca Bakery. Wrote my letter of intention to
Birch Creek Arts & Ecology Center and slept--sorta--on the floor. Moonflower left that afternoon without a word, and I didn't see her in town that day, so I was free to go as I pleased, wander the artwalk, play some music, and run into Michelle, who gave me a ride from Columbia to St. Louis back in April and recognized me first, but didn't remember that I owe her a beer; and I still do: she left Tabu, where we ended up, without saying goodbye. So I kept dancing to the local funk band until they closed down the club, and met many lovely local people. Stayed with Troy that night. Went contra dancing last night and met Aliyah's friend Shay, and stayed with him last night. And today's fading fast...
