"I have writer's block! I think I'll write a villanelle!"
Who does that? Who does that? ::delighted:: Ah, Roseling.
A careful balance of sleep deprivation always does the trick for me, I find. . . when I'm well rested I just sit around doing nothing, and when I'm too tired I can't focus enough to be creative. But when I'm somewhere in between those two, it's as if some kind of channel opens in my head, and suddenly I have a thousand ideas and a thousand things I want to do, I have ambition and I have drive and it lasts until I slip into either of the two limiting states.
Taking a loooong shower also helps, for some reason. I get a lot of my best ideas while taking showers.
So, I was thinking I would write you a letter, as I should have done many times over prior to this time. However, I realized that I don't actually know your current address, and would be much obliged if you'd send it to me. It's possible that I've made this request in the past, and you've answered it, so I must beg your forgiveness if I'm repeating an annoying refrain . . .

Put the pen down and walk away. This is sometimes the only way, to allow the silence to create a vacuum that must be filled.
