Well, my car's about to become a "collector's item"...though I would prefer it didn't. :( As part of its cost-cutting effort for the bailout,
Chrysler is discontinuing the PT Cruiser. IMHO, they might as well just close all their factories and go out of business right now. Who the hell buys their other models?? I don't know anyone who drives a Chrysler that isn't a PT.
I have certainly had my difficulties with the car. It ate its first transmission at just 27,400 miles and I'm on my third battery at just 37,000. It doesn't turn on a dime, nor even a manhole cover. Fuel economy is...unimpressive. Otherwise, though, I have no complaints - and with very little prodding, I could even rhapsodize about the thing. It's exceptionally well-built for an Amurrikin car, owing to its being a child of the short-lived German takeover: Daimler-Benz did a great job with that. I remember my grampa's tacky old Imperials and what poorly glued-together pieces of shit they were; though my Daisy is seven years old now, she's still solid and non-rattle-y.
Practical? To a fault: a compact SUV, if you will. The configurable rear shelves and flat-folding seats are semi-genius in design. It's been an ideal nursery car - WOW can I pack plants in it! Design? Everybody loves it or hates it. I love old cars and I think it's cool that the design was based on a '37 Ford. Love it! :) It can't go out of style, 'cause it already did.
But, what do I know? I'm sure Chrysler knows better. *rolls eyes*
I'm sorry, I don't think these clowns are worth saving.
