"So you think you can dance, Draco?"
"I don't think I can dance, Hermione, I know I can. Mother hired the finest dancing tutor money could buy. Besides, all Malfoys are born with an inherent sense of rhythm."
"Really? Every Malfoy ever?"
"Don't mock. It's nothing less than the truth. Don't you remember the Yule Ball?"
"I remember you staring at me all night-"
"Who could blame me for that?"
"-but I don't remember seeing you dance."
"Hmph. Well, you missed a treat."
"All right, twinkle toes, now's your chance to show me."
"Prepare to be dazzled."
"…Ow!"
"Your foot wasn't supposed to be there! That's why it got stepped on."
"You're the one leading, Draco! That's why my foot was where it was!"
"You should have picked it up higher then."
"I thought we were dancing, not marching. Ow!"
"This is a spritely dance, Hermione. That means you need to pick your feet up."
"Wait. Are we waltzing?"
"Of course."
"This isn't a waltz, Draco. Listen to the music."
"I am listening."
"Your lips are moving. Are you counting?"
"No!"
"You are! I saw it! 'One, two, three. One, two, three.'"
"Hermione, dear, do you think you could just be quiet and enjoy the dance?"
"No, but I think if you don't turn me in a circle or something soon, we're going to crash into the wall."
"Look, I know how to dance. My tutor said she'd never seen anything like me."
"And I believe her. Ow!"
Title: Secret Ingredient
Word Count and Rating: 250 (and it almost killed me), PG
Summary: Nothing says "I'm sorry" quite like magic chocolate.
Notes: Written for
muppet_puppet for the prompt "Time heals all wounds...or is that chocolate?". Also for my 100quills table, prompt 047: Chocolate and my MI Unthemed #6 table, prompt 02: Special.
Fresh tears welled in Hermione's eyes. "When I think about Draco and me being over, I just…"
"Maybe that means you shouldn't be over." Luna lay across a nearby armchair, dangling her legs over an arm.
"Lunaaaa." From her spot next to Hermione, Ginny tossed a wadded tissue in the blonde's direction.
Luna reached over and patted Hermione's leg. "You said he makes you feel beautiful."
"She also said he's arrogant."
"She said he's a tender lover."
"Don't remind me. She also said he's cold and unapproachable out of bed."
Hermione cried harder. "He's all those things, and I love him."
"Well, maybe he'll apologize," Ginny said softly.
"Draco never apologizes. I'm tired of being the one who goes crawling back."
"It'll stop hurting," Ginny promised.
"Yeah, time heals all wounds." Luna pulled a small box from her pocket. "And if it doesn't, there's always chocolate." She sat up and held it out. "It'll make you feel better."
Miserable, Hermione took one chocolate and chewed it slowly. A strange sensation filled her mouth and she made a muffled "mmph!" sound.
"Luna, did you buy these from my brothers?"
Luna looked on in mild alarm as Hermione fished in her mouth with two fingers. "They're from Draco. He said they were a special order for Hermione."
Hermione pulled a strip of paper, covered with Draco's elegant slanted script, from her mouth. Forgive me. Please come home.
Hermione promptly Disapparated.
"For a first apology," Luna said, lying down again, "that had style."
