When the clouds roll in and hide the stars, Hermione knows just where to find Draco.

She slips unseen to the top of the astronomy tower and into his waiting arms. He originally came to the tower to wrestle his demons; she followed him to lay her own demons to rest. Now, on rainy nights when skies are dark and astronomy is canceled, they sneak up here for this: a chance to silently huddle together while the rain soaks through their clothes. Words are pointless, Hermione decides. There's nothing that couldn't be better expressed by their bodies. He asks forgiveness with his hands, she offers absolution with her mouth.

They never touch by day, and she feels bereft, as though she has lost a trusted confidant.

Under the sun-filled enchanted ceiling, she sits with her back to the Slytherin table where Draco sits in a small pocket of isolation.

Luna thinks he looks lonely and would have been happier at Durmstrang.

Ginny thinks they would all be happier if he were at Durmstrang.

Hermione butters her toast to give her hands something to do besides clenching in her lap and keeps one eye on the sky in search of rain.
