Okay... So, I've been about to ask this a couple of times, but never gotten to it. But since it's the reason to one of the resent fights between me and one of the persons I love more than I should, going by the fact that I've never met her... I just have to get it of my chest:
DOES ANYONE OF MY ONLINE FRIENDS LIKE LADY GAGA!?
And, for God's sake, don

At first I it was a huge joke with my family and friends that I like some of her songs; I am after all a music whore according to them =). But after a while it became more than that to the point that I've defended her to others. I've pretty much converted my husband and daughter into fans (my husband's watched her HBO concert about 8 times!!).
Everyone uses music as a way to express ourselves; its perfectly normal to find a song or an artist that we can identify with. There are so many songs that for one reason or another have meant something to me or just touched a 'nerve' someway inside me that made me feel grounded.
I think Lade Gaga's message is what's important; more than her music, more than her crazy costumes or even her outlandish behavior. To encourage people to be themselves, to strive to be what you WANT to be; that is INVALUABLE; especially in the world we live in today. People run around trying to find themselves, to be 'accepted' that they are sometimes willing to throw themselves away in a bid to 'fit in'. I've always told my kids that it is more important to be yourself and to be with people who can accept you for 'you' and not who you 'should be'; and when Lady Gaga said something similar at her concert my daughter just turned and smiled at me not saying anything else and I was impressed. Impressed that a high-profile celebrity would encourage others to be themselves and to not give a damn what other people say.
"Born this Way" is an amazing song and that you get strength from it is awesome. The song is very empowering and its meant to be. People are to focused on how they look, what they wear, if your straight or gay and so many other pointless things that they forget that we are human, we are all alive, thinking feeling beings and this song reminds us of that.
Most of my friends don't care for Lady Gaga but the at least respect that I do; hell most of them think its funny as hell at my age to like her (expect my best friend; she wasn't surprised for some reason). If you like Lady Gaga then that is your preference and you shouldn't have to defend yourself for it. Unfortunately some people will question and rag you for it; but don't let it bother you. I think the better question would be why do you like her? Is it for her music and what it stands for or is it because your following the crowd? And based on your post I pretty sure its safe to say that its her music and in that case, yes you are unique because most people don't and are just following the 'trend'; which is just sad.

And thank you for taking time to comment on this little cry-out of mine. But just to make clear, no one has called me stupid for liking her, it's just that I want to know if someone I care about does. And apparently that's the case~
