...and it isn't over yet. Knowing how my guts love vigourous exercise, I cleverly booked today off to have more recovery time before going back to work.
Friday at Gerbergirl's was fun, particularly playing with my niece, Smiley. :-)
Saturday was one of the most fun 2-4 Saturdays ever. We got going with the hold 'em tourneys around 1:45pm and completed one 9 player tourney and a couple of side 4 player tourneys, one of which I managed to win. The dance was terrific, even if I do say so myself. I certainly saw no evidence that anyone wasn't enjoying themselves, and ample evidence (including many kind words) to show that they were. The now "usual" contest for the CDs where I have 3 contestants try to guess the highest ranked song from that night's "Ultimate" list (in this case 90's) went very well. Unlike the last two years where it seemed hard for all 3 players to even come up with something on the list, my sister guessed Stop by the Spice Girls, which turned out to be #7, The_nita guessed "Walkin' On The Sun" by Smash Mouth, which turned out to be #2 and mnrk guessed "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba, which was #1. Most impressive!
I met the mother of the bride for a wedding I'm going to be the best man at next year and she turned out to be pretty cool; she stuck around for the whole dance, making B&N go home and walk their own dog (chuckle) and she was really into the couple of AC-DC songs I played.
For myself, I was pleased that my efforts in guzzling water and continually stretching my quads had me able to dance more than I thought I would and I was, in fact, able to do pretty much the whole "home stretch" without sitting down and even had some energy for the "final sprint", Ballroom Blitz. Needless to say, my physical activity has been somewhat less for the last couple of days, as my legs and, in particular, my lower back, have not let me forget about the abuse I subjected them to on Saturday night. Still, it was *so* worth it, as always, and I can hardly wait for next year's dance! :-)
Sunday was pretty quiet. Hung around with Cielf, The_Nita, Woodardp and LB for the morning and then they took off for mnrk and chk's place for the afternoon, leaving me in blissful solitude to watch poker on TV and work on taking over the world in Civ IV.
Today, I'll be off to the Toronto Reference Library, where I'm hoping to gather some maps of 17th Century Europe, France, Paris and the Louvre for the new RM campaign I'm running set during the time of the Three Musketeers. Oh, and I booked a tee-off time to golf at Silver Lakes, where we're taking dh for his 40th birthday next Tuesday.
It's all good! :-)
