We paddled canoes from Poplar island (which is not poplar with anyone, it's totally overgrown and nearly impenetrable) to some North Arm fishing industry shipwrecks after Queensborough and pulled out there. The water was fucking gnarly with tugs and yachts and we didn't want to ruin cameras in the soup. I shot still film, video, and super8. Trip took about 2 hours. Boat wakes were huge, like, 3 feet high and every .5-second.
Next time we are going to maybe camp on poplar island or something. Nobody else is interested in it except for us and we found no squatters or evidence of human occupation. No trash, no boats, no ropes, no footprints, no paths.
All river voyages are suspended until spring runoff 2009, when we retackle the hope-to-chilliwack segment with more documenting devices. And more paddlers so that I can focus on documenting.
Eben has a really nice Diana-F 120 camera from Russia.
When school is out next week I am volunteering at the VIFF F&T Forum in exchange for a volunteer VIFF pass. Anyone have any thoughts on volunteering for the VIFF?
