100%. Pissed. Off.

I mentioned before the bit about the accident, and that my neck/back was bugging me following it. A little more than a week later, it hadn't gotten any better at all, despite my self-medication and hours of ice/heat. So I went to an urgent care clinic downtown, where the doctor said I wasn't imagining the pain, he could tell there were spasms in several places in my back. He gave me a script for high-dose naproxen (whoo-hoo... a little more than if I took two Aleve on my own...) and gave me the number of a colleague of his who is a primary care doctor but specializes in this sort of thing, as well as a number for the physical therapy department and told me if it didn't improve within another week or two, to call them both up and make appointments. Sounded reasonable to me, but I haven't really had the time to make these sort of phone calls for, well... 4 months now.

I've been surviving. The pain is still there and yes, it still hurts like sum'bish, but I was getting by. I'm not a fucking crybaby like the assholes around here who need a script for morphine because they stubbed their toe.

Until early this morning.

Around 4 a.m. the little one had a nightmare or something, because he was very loudly fussing. I got up to calm him back to sleep, then went back to bed myself. In the two minutes I was gone, the cat had moved, but since it was pitch black, I had no idea. So I go to get back into bed... and I fucking trip on him. I feel my neck wrench and hear it crack and all of a sudden, I can't move it anymore...

So at 4:30 a.m. I walked into the E.R. Carefully.

I get sent home after the nurse gave me a couple pills to help the pain so I can get back to sleep, but the PA was kind enough to schedule me an appointment with Internal Medicine next door so I can see a specialist. I get there before 2:30 even though my appointment was for 3, just to make sure I got the registration bs out of the way so I could get in on time.

They sent me home without even being seen AT ALL.

Why?

Because they don't accept the specific HMO the state chose FOR me.

The state insurance is my secondary insurance. You know, the one that picks up the tab AFTER it has been run through my PRIMARY insurance. WHICH THEY ACCEPT.

I said I understood they didn't accept the HMO. But they DO accept my PPO... which is my primary insurance ANYWAY, so couldn't they just bill my primary and forget about billing the secondary and then I would just pay whatever the balance was?

THEY SAID NO.

Apparently cash money < no money.

I sat in the goddamn waiting room for over AN HOUR and got sent home WITHOUT BEING SEEN because they do not take my BACK UP insurance. BACK UP. Not that I didn't have insurance coverage, or that the insurances I did have would not cover anything... because the LESSER of the two didn't.

WHAT.
THE.
FUCK.

Now, I understand I live in a city where people bitch when they have to pay a WHOLE FUCKING DOLLAR for NAME BRAND CONTROLLED DRUGS. Trust me, I KNOW WHERE I LIVE. I KNOW the people that live around here. But that's why I was trying to be respectful and polite and explain the situation.

Maybe I DO need to start being ignorant and belligerent like these other fucking asshats around here. This is plain ridiculous.

I'M IN PAIN.
I'VE BEEN IN PAIN FOR OVER A MONTH.
I GO TO WORK EVERY GODDAMN DAY WITH THIS PAIN SO THAT I CAN PAY MY TAXES THAT GIVE ME THIS STUPID FUCKING STATE INSURANCE.
THE LEAST YOU CAN DO IS SAY, "No, we don't take that one, but sure we can bill the insurance that picks up the brunt of the bill ANYWAY, go ahead and step into the exam room."

I.
FUCKING.
HATE.
EVERYTHING.
