I really lose track of time when I'm attempting to deal with problems. But it appears that all is turning around and I hope to have good news soon.
Met with Joe a second time and we settled on some goals for the project. He laid out what he considers items we should shoot for to begin generating some sort of revenue stream. First we need to get the web site up with our beginning web content then begin searching for our first sponsor. Since he already has the server set up in his business we don't have to worry about uploading it anywhere. I will have to secure the domain name shortly though. Forgot to ask him where he thinks the best place for that would be.
My job is to settle on that beginning content, the New Year's most likely to be in place as tourist attraction. We figure that the ancient ones, and the lesser known ones, can come later.
What struck me was Joe talking about that at some point when the project grows to a decent size, that's when we have to start looking for other people to fill in the blanks like developers, writers, video people, salespeople, and a whole bunch more. I understood he wanted to grow this in order to make it appealing for a content hungry corporation but seriously, that sound like an awful lot of people. But what he said makes sense that when you're working at growing a project like this you can't take it upon yourself to try to do all the work. You have to pass it on to others, that's the only way to allow it to grow.
So I'm following his lead in hopes this pays off. I kinda think we're on the right track...
it's new years again
