I get to chalk up another loss as I didn't make the cut for the graphic designer job. Funny the woman told me I was over-qualified and wasn't quite sure why I was applying for an entry level job in academia. Well, daaaah. I loved being in academia and would take a lesser paycheck to get back in.

I'm a little disheartened right now and continuing the job search just hurts my brain. So I'm working on my new MOOC class for social network analysis and learning a new network visualization program, gephi. Jürgen says I need to quit using ORA cause it's not open-source and costs a lot of money. And it I do something with it I could really get into trouble down the road. So I'm picking up all the free, open-source tools I can find.

Here's the first network I made from the Doctor Who screwdriver dataset. There aren't as many options for colour, placement or labeling but as I said, it's free and open-source.

Working on another article but with Whotopia taking a break from publication we need to find another place to send it to.

doctor who, a little more sonic, writing, gephi
