I can never have nice things...
These are the types of updates I hate. Things are somewhat disintigrating at work.
Four months ago one of our lunch group was terminated. Said it was for underperformance of duties. We were all quite sad cause we had become somewhat close. I don't think I've ever be so at ease with a group of people at work.
For weeks the mood at work was somber but we finally got back up to speed. But that wasn't the end of it.
The main project scientist's duties have been constantly downgraded until he's become almost totally declawed. He is not happy. He has told us that he's been looking for other work and looking hard. He's possibility the best resource the department has and he'll be gone when he finds something.
One of the main programmers has also become disenchanted with his lot in life. He started as an IT and programmer for the department but his job has slowly shifted into begin a data tester and probably would be moving into being a developer. He says that's not his ultimate goal in life and he too has been actively searching for something along the lines of his strengths.
Then on Wednesday of this week my office mate was terminated. That certainly has put the general mood in the office in a funk.
When everyone is gone it will go back to what is was when I first started. Everyone will keep to themselves and there will no longer be the lunch group to laugh with.
I am definitely not happy. I still enjoy the work I do and where I work but it will never be the same after this. Two people terminated in four months and two others actively looking for new jobs. Hell of a way to start a new year...
