Bible Study is back!

You know you're excited! I think this year I'm going to try to write out summaries and personal statements about what I have read in an effort to drive the points home to myself. I first thought I would just write this on paper, but I figure why not put the verses out here where others can read them for themselves. I'll try to do this weekly--it helps me remember.

To me, these verses hold several truths: God saves us through his grace. We are God's children, and because of that, we can't expect the world (non-Christians) to understand the way we live and the choices we make. God sent Jesus to die in our place because He loved us, not because we loved Him. The last few verses show that Paul prayed a lot and for anyone he thought needed God's help. He prayed for things, for people. He prayed constantly and consistantly, praying for the same people over and over again. This shows us how we should pray--asking God for our needs and trusting Him to provide. Last but not least, learn to trust God with your worries so you willl not be anxious.

Ephesians 2:4-5
But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ ( by grace you have been saved)

1 John 3:1
See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

1 John 4:9-10
By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Romans 1:10a
always in my prayers making request,

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:9-12
For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.

Philippians 4:6
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
