Leavin'
Well everyone, I leave on Wednesday mornin' (the 11th) and I come back sometime around December 1st. I still can't really believe that I am doing this. It'll be the longest I've been away from Emily... Hopefully we'll be able to get in touch on a semiregular basis. Especially after basic is complete I can contact her more. But that is after the limbo time that she'll have living at the parental units' house.
After training is finished, I have active duty reserve for six years. What that means is I'm there until I'm 30. I'm trying to decide if I want to try and go back to school once I get back as the government would pay my way. I don't know though since I don't really have any idea what to study. Maybe one more shot at those vet school dreams... but perhaps I'm too damn old to be trying to do school and that I should just try to get a real job. :-P My first inclination is a law enforcement job, maybe with VT Police because the MP training is helpful for that. Hopefully actually going through the training will make the answer more clear.
I'm also having problems around my gender identity that I can't address until the active duty service is complete because the army isn't OK with people not fitting gender and other norms. So really unless I get a great job that allows me to come out and just take the discharge, I must wait. Such a long time to be in this body that is so uncomfortable.
Anyway, I probably won't update until after I return around December 1st.
