Fourth Light - [Action]

[It's been several days since the death of the Remnants and John has been avoiding his two comrades in the days since. He's been keeping on his patrols, in spite of a broken leg, but after a shorter patrol than usual, John will be making his first trip to the Good Spirits. He's not in uniform, but he still hovers in to keep from having to hobble in ( Read more... )

[Seeing someone float through town was not something Grell saw everyday, so he followed John into the pub - somewhere he'd never been before. He watches John for a bit and then walks up, leaning on his elbows on the bar, smiling at the out-of-uniform superhero.]

Why so glum, dear? Something troubling you?

[John glances over at the man. Woman? Well, whatever.]

Glum's not the word for it.

Oh? Then what has you so down, darling?

[He slides into the seat next to John, smiling all the while.]

Or are you just the dark, brooding type?

[He's not too crazy about you getting into his personal space, but he doesn't show it.]

I'm the quiet, drinking alone type.

A person should never drink alone - it leads down a dark path, you know.

[Grell cares little for your personal bubble, John. :( I am so sorry.]

Especially with your poor leg. Wouldn't it be so much nicer to have someone dote on you a bit?

[ooc: for the record, how convincingly female is Grell, in terms of voice and mannerism?]

I've had a lot worse before and the leg will mend just fine. [He's not going to address the 'dark path' bit. He's not worried about that.]

[ooc; mannerisms, pretty feminine - voice, it's Fukuyama Jun who can do a fairly high pitched voice, but can also drop to a normal man's voice. He's playing the part of female now, so while it may be a bit difficult to tell, he has a deeper "woman's" voice for the most part.]

Ahn, a stoic one, I see? It must have hurt terribly though. It's such a shame to see someone suffering so.

[He takes another drink. Apparently he's going to need it just to deal with this woman.]

I'll be just fine, thanks.

[And now Grell will put his chin on the back of his hands and pout a little.]

Well, it's no fun if you don't let me play even the slightest bit.

Sorry ma'am. Not here for your amusement. Just the drink.

I always thought a good conversation enhanced the taste, but I suppose Americans are different.

And where exactly is it you're from? [Because the word "American" is often as alien a term here in Luceti as it is in the rest of the galaxy.]

London. And unless I'm mistaken, your accent is American, yes? I suppose I might be wrong, considering this place and its queerness - I do hope I haven't offended.

Detroit, as a matter of fact. [But his accent probably doesn't make that terribly obvious. He spent a decade in deep space.] And don't worry. I'm not easily offended.

[The city name means little to him, but he'll smile pleasantly all the same.]

Charmed. It's rare that I meet someone from someplace other than the Orient here. Or from a completely different planet. [He lets out a sigh and begins to twirl a strand of hair around his index finger.] I must proclaim my ignorance though. Could you tell me more about this Detroit? I've never traveled outside merry old England, you see.

It does seem that this city has a large population of Japanese, although you wouldn't know it by looking at most of them.

Detroit, Michigan. Big city in the northern end of the United States. Commonly known as the "Motor City" due to the large automotive industry based there. [Just the facts. He's not inclined to go any further than that about the city. It's not relevant.]
