So I purchased these
www.espnshop.com/catalog/productdetail.cfm (edited to add: Birthday present from my Mom) and I've now run twice in them. First day was not too bad, some slipping between my foot and the shoe but no blisters. But I did have some pretty serious arch pain in my left foot for a few hours after and my feet have been sore since. Today was attempt number two. I tied the laces tighter thinking that would prevent the slippage. Unfortunately, I was still uncomfortable during my warm up and it progessively worsened until it felt like the soles of my feet were burning and half of my toes were asleep. Not cool. When I took my shoes off at home my toes and the bottoms of my feet were red. I've never noticed that happening before.
I'm going to try one more time with a different pair of socks but I'm thinking that I might have to exchange them...which is just a hassle I don't want. I already feel ridiculous going to a speciality running store, but then having to try on multiple shoes and run around the store in each one of them with all of the male marathon employees watching the spectacle that is me makes me want to crawl in a hole and die. God forbid there are other customers milling around. (I have to admit it wasn't completely awful the first time, but I didn't run around the store so much, just hopped on my toes a bit. I fear I'm going to have to jog around now to ensure I'm getting the right shoe with the proper fit.)
Exam III is tomorrow. I have a bunch of paperwork as well as a rather extensive project that includes me leading a specialized group at the hospital on Tuesday...which is also my last day there. On Wed I'll be at the women's shelter where I used to work, leading my classmates in our community project. A couple more lectures after that, then the final, and then summer break...which I'm hoping includes an increase in my finances so I CAN TAKE A FUCKING VACATION. I need a vacation, big time.
And Rose is moving back to NOLA! She'll be getting here Tuesday, staying with me 'till she finds a place. I'll be bringing her around, yay!
