Healing Vibrations.

I did today's meditation in a vibroacoustic sound chair, surrounded by thousands of people. It made it very easy to universalise lovingkindness to all the "seekers". MindBodySpirit Festival was this weekend. Here is the "zero gravity" chair. http://oasissynergy.com.au/home

It was possibly a little like being caught in an infinite probability drive. I'm pretty sure I heard someone turning into a penguin at one point. Or that might have just been the binaural beats.

I won a double pass from Opalesque's facebook page. They were performing there; one of my most favorite bellydance troupes, and I haven't seen them for so long. I felt rather guilty because I'd said I'd help out at Yogafest if I was up to it. I actually thought they were across the river from each other and they were in the same street, which was a bit embarassing. I actually didn't really feel up to having a "public face", plus it was rainy and cold, so I slunk around the indoors festival instead, and only turned up to Yogafest as it was winding down. This turned out to be the most helpful thing I could have done, because I could stand there and mind equipment in the carpark, while Loqk helped carry it all up, including the gazebo. Plus we got free awesome curry from a closing up vendor. Clean up I'm happy to assist with.

I found my favorite chai stall and favorite ginger cordial stall at the MindBodySpirit, and have new products from each. I also had a chat with a holistic dentist.

I have massive problems cleaning my teeth. I can't handle flickering movement, remember? I learnt to clean the microwave without keeling over by going all Karate Kid and making figure-eights rather than a back and forth scrubbing motion, but that's a bit hard to adapt to teeth cleaning. Mostly I do it with my eyes closed, very inelegantly, with nowhere near the two minutes recommended time.

One of the terribly exciting things for me after the first month of the Feldenkrais training, was that I was getting in better touch with my own timing. I'm not sure where in the six month mark now, but I was able to successfully navigate my bathroom in low light, with a low contrast toothbrush, and clean my teeth with my eyes open for a while. This was a big, incredible amazing thing for me which I took for granted half a decade ago, before the Adverse Drug Reaction. And it just seemed like such a pathetic victory to explain to anyone that I hugged it close to myself. And then it was such a pathetic devastation when I moved units, the light fell differently, and I was back to having to close my eyes.

Its hard to explain to people that it takes several years to completely make where I live safe because light levels change and come from different angles throughout the year. Morning light managed to get me only this week, through three layers - curtains, blinds, and a large canvas we've wedged between them - because where it rises now it could bounce off the wall. The canvas has been moved to reblock it.

Personal care issues are one of the hardest things to share openly, and therefore one of the hardest things to ask for help with. I have absolutely no idea how anyone with light sensitive myoclonus sees a dentist. My optometrist has given up shining lights into my eyes because I flail about. I am even less keen to try the experiment with sharp metal things in my mouth. This dentist reckons the profession does develop quick reflexes as they aren't keen on getting bitten. She's never dealt with an issue like mine, but does use eye pillows to deal with the glare which is unpleasant for patients in general. Neither of us are keen on the sedation option.

So this is how I came home with a toothbrush that cost a week's rent. It wasn't pushed at me, but it had occurred to me before that an electric toothbrush might not be a totally bourgeois indulgence, if they were actually any good. This dentist has never been impressed with rotation oscillation brushes, but this one has a different vibration pattern, and she had patients show a marked improvement in gum health after getting one. Hopefully, I have invested wisely in healthy vibrations from the Hippy Fest.
