But in thinking about words, I got into looking up random words and came across:
interstimulus
... the definition of which is, "between stimuli." That seems very vague and I wondered how to use it in a practical context. Here is my bogus definition:
Interstimulus: the period between foreplay and sexual intercourse, frequently involving the male or female partner's installation of the sexual contraceptive device [e.g., condom]. Interstimulus can often be a time of frustration for either or both parties, usually resolved upon the return of intimate stimuli.
