You know, it's when I have a week like this one that I appreciate that I don't have to work full-time anymore. And I don't mean that in a negative way. It's just that I've been able to accomplish so much because of the fact I'm not dragging myself to work every day, and trying to take care of Dex, and do household stuff. My workload hasn't been that overwhelming lately, either. I finished the two projects I had to work on today, and did some work for my other boss, and wrote out thank-you cards, and did dishes.
I've just been so busy lately, though. A lot of it had to do with the fact that we baptized Dex on Saturday and I had a party at our house to celebrate it on Sunday. It was really nice, actually, but I was going crazy trying to get everything ready beforehand. The house actually still looks pretty good -- I cleaned up all the party debris yesterday, so the only other thing I really have to do is wash the floor.
I'm pleased we were able to baptize him. Dex was really funny during the actual baptism, too -- he was fussy (we'd interrupted his eating to go up to the altar), right up until the pastor poured the water over him, and then he went really quiet. He also laughed at the pastor. Heh. I don't know if Dex thought he looked silly, or what. It was really cute. I was proud of him for being pretty good, too.
I also did something else new for the first time -- last week, I hired a cleaning person. I know, it seems counter-intuitive, being that I'm at HOME and don't work full-time, but I've found that, while I have no issues keeping the house in order, I can't keep up with the actual cleaning, which is more of a concern to me now that we have the baby. The lady I found also uses all-natural, eco-friendly cleaning products, which Wes was really keen on. So, we'll see. I'm going to try it out for a little while (she'll come every other week) and see if our budget can bear it. It definitely makes me less stressful, knowing I don't have to worry about when the last time I cleaned the bathroom was, or how much dust has accumulated on the bookshelves, ack.
Now, if I could only afford a personal chef, my life would be complete!! Guess I'd better start buying those lottery tickets.
I'm also working down my to-do list. It's definitely being whittled down. Of course, I always seem to think of new things to add to it once I've taken stuff off, but being able to cross stuff off makes me feel better about what I'm doing. Once I'm caught up with that, I'm going to start taking Dex places this summer -- like the zoo, and the museums. He might not be quite old enough to understand it, but he gets really stimulated by new environments, and I think they're never too young to be learning. Plus, it's kind of fun for me, too -- it'll be like living my childhood over again ... :D
In other pleasing developments, I had someone buy my old mattress and bedding today. And, two people contacted me about two other things I'm selling on Craigslist, so that's pretty awesome. My next "selling" goal is to start selling off my old X-F merchandise. I need to strike while the X-Files are hot again. I really don't need this stuff anymore, and I'm hoping someone else would like to have it. If that person sounds like you, let me know and I can e-mail you a list of what I have. Otherwise, I'm going to post a list and some pics on the XF community later this week, I think. Oh, man. I love purging.
I just got rid of about 15 pairs of shoes the other day. I was cleaning up things for the party and just started going through shoes. I really have too many pairs of shoes. I don't spend a lot of money on them, but I'll be at Target, or something, and will see a pair on sale and then it's like -- "Ooh, shiny!" I mean, I've already bought myself four pairs of sandals for this year, and three are black! They're all different kinds (to my benefit, two pairs were $5 Old Navy flip-flops), but, seriously. I have problems.
Anyway. I need to go to bed. I find if I stay up past 11:30, I want to die the next day. Plus, yesterday, Dex woke up at 4:30 am and I had to spend an hour feeding him before he'd go back to bed for a couple hours. I really hope that doesn't happen again tomorrow...
