Just got back from the school bookstore some minutes ago. I am utterly disgusted with how much money I spent on text books, and it didn't help that two of my classes required three books. I found most of my books online for relatively cheap (can you say $3.00 math book?), but the ones that were not online, or were the same online than in-store, I bought today at school.
I bought four books. Four, measly, 500-page (if that) paperbacks for the grand total of $171.00 PLUS TAX. What the hell? And though I had no intention of buying them new, two of the books were workbooks, and therefore were only sold new, and another book is new to the curriculum this semester, so it wasn't available in used. Ugh. I also ordered my books online some hours ago - six books to the tune of $220. The only thing that vaguely comforts me is that I will make a small fortune come buyback time at the end of the semester on account of the pile of books I now own.
