Almost as if she'd told him herself Alex had known where Jen was going the night she left. In a way he mostly understood if only because he'd been there himself. Throwing yourself at the unreachable especially with a history like the two of them had was fairly normal when you'd been through as much as Jen but when she didn't come home his own worries flared. If he'd been willing before maybe Gibbs had decided to have a taste of the past. Maybe he'd opened himself up to being cut down again. As the thoughts hit his brain he stared to feel trapped. It was like being locked in the silo all over again with the dark ooze creeping about in the shadows just waiting to get him.

With a quick scribble for Noemi he'd taken off into the city with just the clothes on his back. It was easy to fall back into bad habits a few drinks and he was a one-armed Superman ready to take on the world. A few punches later and he remembered why it was a bad idea for a one-armed man to get into a fist fight but at least he'd gotten in a few shots of his own before he'd been pummeled into the pavement outside the bar. Alex wanted to hole up and lick his wounds but he couldn't go back not when he wasn't sure of Jen. In what was a sheer moment of desperation he made his way to a front door he'd never thought he'd stand at knocking softly. As he was pulled inside and into a cautious hug for a second he felt alright.
