rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated

I am not actually dead. The few noble people who once track of me may have thought as much, but I am still very much alive. This summer has been a bummer. I really shoulda taken summer courses... Bored doesn't really cover things. I guess the best testament to how disinterested I've become in LJ is the fact that my subscription account expired and ( Read more... )

wtf that juvenile comment on your fic. The review box is not a space for expressing personal opinions about pairings.

I am also reading ASoIaF, currently on Storm of Swords. Sansa is my favorite character. Theon is amusing to me despite his being a dick. I love Arya's narrative voice; it gets better as the books go on. Admittedly, I didn't like her as much in the first book, since she came across as a bit of a Straw Tomboy, but I feel like she really came into her own in book 2. I loathe Tyrion because GRRM wants us to love him so much and he's so whiney. As for Jon, I love his vow of celibacy! The part of me that acknowledges I would have become a nun had I been born any time before 1950 totally relates to him on that. I seriously dislike what happens to Jon in the book I'm reading now, but... you'll see.

Oh also I am Team Renly I do not even care what the book says.

Unfortunately, I can't really read Cassie Clare--not so much due to her wanky past as the part where I can tell which of her favorite characters inspired her characters and which of her favorite series inspired her own stuff. It's pretty distracting to me, personally. But I acknowledge that she may be others' cups of tea even if she isn't my own.

Have you read A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray? Bray's a friend of Cassie Clare's, but I really liked her Gemma Doyle trilogy. Magic and Victorian boarding schools and lots of girl bonding.

Glad to hear you're alive. I have been thinking about you with the workplace stuff.

Hi! CC's writing is certainly not without issues (the random metaphor overload is very prominent in the first series, but toned down in the prequel). Luckily for me, her favorite characters are probably from things I've never read or seen like Buffy so I couldn't see the resemblances if I were looking for them.

I have the first two of the Libba Bray books but I honestly never finished the first. It's the first person present tense narrative that is tough for me I think...

I might like Jon Snow a lot because even though I have never seen the series, I've seen stills and he is hot. Also Robb. Also Theon, though he is kind of goofy looking (I just happen to often find dorky looking guys really hot).
