Today is a big day! I have an interview for a graduate assistant position in the library at my school and I am super nervous. Well, not super nervous because my Zoloft has finally started to take effect. At least I think it has. I feel less anxious and have not been despairing. I have been really busy, though. It is midterm time and I have a test today and a 10 page paper due next Wednesday. This wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have two very good books tempting me to read them and both Pokemon Black and White tempting me to play them. But I managed to study and have written almost six pages of my paper.
I can't wait to have more reading time after midterms are over. One of the books is "The Wise Man's Fear," by Patrick Rothfuss. It's the sequel to "The Name of the Wind," and even just over 300 pages in I am totlly hooked. The author is going to be at the Bailey's Crossroads Borders on Monday night and I have to decide if I want to go. I have the day off work, but it would probably keep me out pretty late and I always have to get up at 4 on Tuesday mornings. Also, it will probably be a big, loud event. At least that is what my ex says, it being the store where he works.
Yes, my ex and I are on friendlier terms lately. In fact, I've invited him to come bake with me on Friday. I will not let myself get any hopes up. And I am well aware that it is not the smartest idea, but I am really tired of everyone telling me so. It's nobody else's damn business if I put my heart on the line. The only one who can potentially be hurt is me, and that's only if I let myself be hurt. Which I am determined not to, but...
Moving right along, the other book I am reading is the first in Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series. It is an urban supernatural series, in the same vein as the Sookie Stackhouse books, but better written and less overtly sexual. The books reads pretty fast, even for a slow reader like me, but I am only about halfway through because of other obligations and distractions. The heroine is really cool. She is half Native American and can shift into a coyote. She also owns her own car repair shop and can hold her own against werewolves. Fun stuff.
I have both new Pokemon games. I bought Black for myself and my mom got me White as a part of my birthday present. I have only started Black. I began with Oshawott and named him Cheerio. I got the first gym badge, defeating Cilan's Pansage with the help of my Pansear, Curry. What I didn't realize about BW and am quite happy over, is that you can use TMs over and over, just like HMs. That is very cool. I will start White with Snivy. Need to think of a good name...
The other part of my early birthday gifts from my mom, was more new underwear. Specifically, bras that actually fit. My bra size has changed this past year so I needed new ones. Aerie has become one of my favorite stores in the mall now. And to think I overlooked it until this Valentine's Day. If you haven't been, it is a spinoff of American Eagle that focuses on underwear and also sells pajamas and very casual cotton tees and such. It is all very cute and cheaper than Victoria's Secret.
My actual birthday is not until tomorrow. It is sadly going to suck a little. I will be home alone all day. My mom has to work so she can't take me out to dinner. Also, I will probably have to work on homework. At least I will have a cake. I asked for a Southern Comfort cake this year and am very excited for it.
Anyways, better get going on my morning since I have a big day ahead. Wish me luck!
