VD is still for everyone!

It's Valentine's Day! This year, as it has been every year before, I was my own valentine. Well, that's not totally accurate. This year, I'd say my mom was my valentine. It has been a long time since we both had a day off together with no other obligations or engagements. So today we went to the mall, just the two of us. And it was quite a pleasant day. Despite me still nursing that broken heart (far longer than I should be, yes I know), me and my mom had a great time shopping. I may have overindulged: I bought about $60 of new makeup, some t-shirts (since the weather is warming up), berry-vanilla lotion from Bath and Body Works, and a smallish bottle of Bourbon. But since I am about to get a generous tax refund, I can afford an indulgent Valentine's Day. And my mom bought me seven new pairs of panties, all very cute.

Lunch was at Corner Bakery, one of my favorites! We also ate candy, of course. This is a very sacred part of the holiday.

On the subject of makeup, I really wish I knew more. I want to be savvy on this matter because I like wearing makeup. I like to feel pretty. But I am a bit clueless as to what I should buy. I've developed a fondness for Clinique, a very reputable brand. But I want to try more and more. Today I got a new eye palette, blush, and mascara, all from Clinique. Sephora just offers way too many choices.

In addition to my girlish treats, I did get Bourbon. Makers Mark is so awesome. I feel pretty damn good right now, by the way. I just hope I can get to sleep okay tonight. I have been suffering from sporadic insomnia even without alcohol involvement lately and I am starting to wonder if it is time for me to use some of that student loan surplus to get me some Zoloft. I think if I could take the edge off my anxiety and depression I would be able to focus more on caring for others instead of myself and that would be a very good thing. I really might just do it.

Oh! I am going to apply for a graduate assistant position this week so wish me luck, everyone! It really would be awesome to get a job working in my desired field. *crosses fingers*

I still have dinner to look forward to. Barbecue tonight! And tiramisu for dessert! And I reserved Pokemon Black AND White at Target! My mom is going to buy one of them for my birthday present! Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Men kind of suck, by the way!
