these streets will make you feel brand new, big lights will inspire you...

Despite having spent no more than eight of the last forty-eight hours sleeping, I had a good weekend. Well, today I just went to my goofy job all loopy from lack of sleep, but yesterday was my New York Day with Edward. We just did midtown frivolity, but it was fun anyways because it was New York City and we were together.

I was a good girl and spent less than an hour in Kinokuniya and did not go overboard spending (though I totally wanted to and totally would have if I had a bit more discretionary income). I could easily spend thousands of dollars at that store if I had it, but all I got this time was the second Bleach Character Book and the Hetalia Official Animation Guide. I didn't intend to buy the second. I actually was looking for the Vampire Knight art book (the story may suck royally now but the art is still gorgeous and I love me some Zero eye candy). But I didn't see it there and I did see this Hetalia book and it looked so shiny. The one thing that bugs me about it is that on the other side of the Axis Trio pull-out is a picture of England and Japan *gag* and apparently there is another insert item with those two *double gag* I cannot emphasize enough how distasteful I find them as a pairing and how much I resent the fact that it is the most popular with Japanese fans. I know this is petty, but it drives me bonkers and I don't like seeing fanservice for it, even if the images aren't shippy.

I got some pastries there, too, and still have some mini anpan leftover for tomorrow. I love anko.

I also stopped at the Nintendo store and got a new Pokemon doll. Again, I used restraint. Even though they also had all three legendary cats (they are soooo not dogs) and the spiky-eared Pichu, I only bought myself an Arceus. I would have shopped more if I were there alone or with my mom or sister, but I took pity on my boyfriend and tried to do things we'd both enjoy (though I am sure he would have dutifully stopped at any store I wanted to if I'd asked him).

We got pizza at John's and hit the MoMA. Starry Night is always beautiful. I thought the Persistence of Memory was there, too, but I guess I was remembering wrong. We walked in the park as the sun was sinking low and I ate roasted chestnuts from a vendor. Now I really want to try roasting them at home over the fire. They're really yummy.

The only bad part is that I didn't get home until after one and I had to get up at six. So after a shower I only got about four hours of sleep last night. I knew this was likely to happen and tried to sleep on the bus on the way home, but I just couldn't, even though I was quite tired. I am a picky sleeper, the way some people are picky eaters. I can only sleep if conditions are just right and it really sucks. Needless to say, I will be sleeping in tomorrow.

I didn't take as many pictures as I intended, but here are a few:

The sky was clear and blue!

They were setting up the Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center!

Edward and I ate an entire pizza between us, but I figure we walked it off.

People were skating in Central Park even though it wasn't very cold out.

I always love seeing the skyscrapers above the treeline.

My first attempt at the hold-the-camera-away-and-get-a-shot-of-both-of-us technique... I am not great at it.

My second attempt was trolled.

Edward and Arceus. He thought this was silly but couldn't refuse me.

My treats! Fewer spoils than in my pre-grad school days, but they are quality treats!
