too far gone to be saved now

How did it happen? I resisted for so long. The wank didn't pique my curiosity, nor did the many Fandom Secrets. It seems to have been entirely thanks to all that scrumptious fanart on Pixiv that I am hopelessly in love with Axis Powers Hetalia. Just look to my icon for my OTP. But I love all the characters in their own special way. As you can imagine, this recent discovery is causing me almost as much shame as joy. It's freaking Hetalia, on of those fandoms that everyone knows about even if they aren't in it. And those not in it often treat it with derision or hold it in snooty disregard. Over-hyped, over-exposed garbage some might say. But I love it. I really love it and I feel like someone who is three hours late to the big party.

Neither particularly well-drawn nor particularly educational, it nonetheless has an intoxicating, addictive quality. It makes you look at things differently. In my quest to redirect the Sea of Corruption, I was disassembling my Ikea bed today and noticed a "Made in Finland" sticker on one of its constituent parts. My immediate thought: Awww, Su-san's wife helped make his furniture. Yeah, shit like this is why I am ashamed. But, of course, not too ashamed to write about it in my livejournal.

On the hotter side of the news, the AC at my house is broken until at least Monday and it is in the 90s this weekend. Hurray! That was sarcasm. I hate hate HATE hot weather (even just warm weather is not my style). Being hot and sweaty is the worst. I am so glad that my bed is in the basement now so I can sleep where it is cooler. My new room is a lot smaller than my old room, but it is so much nicer in the summer. And it is so cute! The job of sorting through all the stuff in the old room will not be fun. Keep it, toss it, or donate it.
