With my constant migraines, I have a lot of time on my hands. And the other day I was going back through old posts and found one of my remake posts and I couldn't help but notice that my remakes looked like shit. So I remade the remakes.

I almost gave up on this one. Every time I would crop the photo, it would focus too much on her hands, or would have a big black shadow behind her head or behind her hands. It was REALLY frustrating. In the originals, it was important for me to include the text, but I pretty much can't stand 'text just for the sake of text' anymore, so I left it completely out. I don't mind the coloring in the 1st remake, but I feel like it focuses so much on her hands and less on her rolling the cigarette.

My rationale with the 1st remake is that the 2 photos go together better. Which is true, since they are from the same photo shoot, but unless you are someone like me who looks at the damn photos all the time, that isn't immediately evident. So this time I went with two pictures from the same photo shoot that are more obviously from the same shoot.

Her eyes look really great in this shot so it's tempting to stay close on the crop. But my original image is pretty small so the final result looks horrible when staying close. So I didn't.

Gods that original is horrible. I don't mind the remake, and I said something about cropping further away due to her hair being 'all blowy and stuff' but HI. BOOBS. She's wearing a sexy bra/bustier thingy. Why would I crop that out? I was clearly an idiot.

I would never pick this image today. The original is oddly colored and small. Doing Auto-Color on the original actually helped even things out at the beginning to allow me to make something that I like. And I truly just love Kate as a redhead - so I will always feature that if I can.

Lulz, there is TEXT ON THAT ORIGINAL. Gods. Anyway. I do like the 1st remake so I just did something completely different this round. I tried using only textures for the coloring which is something I haven't practiced a whole lot yet.

Remember when you first started making icons and thought ImageReady was dope? There are little blinkies around the mint in that first icon. You can't even tell. I remember spending FOREVER ON IT. And remember that trend of putting a bunch of circles on your icon? I follow all trends, yo.

That GD star brush. I loved that thing in the beginning. This image is probably the most iconned by me. I friggen love it. So I decided to frame the shot instead of cropping close for something different.

I thought that lip brush was such a cute idea. Because I couldn't just LEAVE SOMETHING ALONE, I had to hit people over the head with a hammer. Sheeeeeeesh.

Multiple images is so tough. I had a great idea for what I wanted to do with this one, but something between me not really knowing how to achieve the look and me lacking the patience to keep trying, I gave up on the multiple image idea and stuck with one.

I don't mind the simplicity of the 1st remake, but I am trying to actually get away from being so simple. The original image is black & white so I think I threw on about 4-800 textures until I liked it.

OK, the actual FUCK with the pattern in that original. LORD. Once more, I probably wouldn't choose this photo today because I don't like it that much, so tried to make it interesting for me by using a bunch of textures.

I went through a phase where I adored adding color to black and white pictures. While the 1st remake does look better, especially with that texture over the top to soften things, I have come to love making black & white icons. So I made it stay that way.

I probably shouldn't have even used this original image because it is small AND oddly colored. I don't know if I even like the remake, I feel like you can barely see her face, but *shrug* oh well.
There were a few icons in my original post that I didn't remake here because 1. I couldn't find them, 2. I don't like the image at all so why would I want an icon of it, or 3. it would NOT cooperate. And I have learned to stop fighting and just try a different image when that happens.
So there we go. I think I saved all the psds for these, so if you are interested in specifics for what I did, let me know.
