Prompt #22:

“This is all your fault.”

The Doctor sighed. “No, it’s isn’t.”

“You’re the one who taught her about Rassilon,” Rose pointed out. “So it’s your fault.”

“No one on my planet ever had tea parties,” The Doctor muttered, poking at plastic confection sitting in front of him on the little pink and white plate. “We didn’t even have tea.”

Rose smiled sympathetically. “No wonder you love Earth so much.”

Across from them, at the tiny wooden table, sat Jack, squeezed into a tiny, yellow plastic chair identical to the ones The Doctor and Rose were seated in. The difference was that they seemed to be a little more well-suited for the size than Jack.

“My butt is too round for this chair,” he hissed. “I think I’m stuck.”

“Good then you can’t run off,” Rose replied. “Just sit and act like you’re having a good time.” She glanced at the Doctor, who had picked up his plastic cupcake and put it to his mouth, tongue at the ready. “Stop that,” she snapped, grabbing the toy pastry from him. “It’s plastic.”

“Well, yeah but what kind of plastic?”

“Put the tongue away, Doc,” Jack muttered. “You’re giving me ideas.”

Rose gave him a glare.

“What?! He’s the one with his tongue hanging out!”

“Da always has his tongue hanging out,” said a little voice from the doorway. The little girl, with her light brown tresses and her pretty purple dress, walked over with a pile of cloth. “I found the napkins.”

“Brilliant!” The Doctor replied, sparing his one and only child the heartbreak of realizing that their food was less than edible, and that they didn’t actually need napkins.

“Sally, can I have a bigger chair?” Jack asked.

She shook her head. “Those are the only chairs I have.”

Jack gave Rose a glare that obviously said ‘get the kid bigger chairs.’

Sally took up one of her pink tea cups and sipped the weak, sugar laced tea. “Isn’t this fun?”

“Oh, yes,” The Doctor replied hurriedly. “It’s the most fun I’ve had in ages.” He took up his own tea cup and sipped, only to set it back down slowly and wrinkle his nose.

“I made the tea myself.”

“Yes, I can tell.”

Rose gave The Doctor a pointed look. “It’s brilliant tea, Sally.”

Jack nodded and wiggled in the chair again. “Yeah, great party, Dollface.”

The little girl smiled and pretended to eat one of her cupcakes.

The Doctor picked up the one in front of his and Rose glared at him again. Sheepishly, he put it back down.
