Last night I felt like I was in one of those terrible bad date, comedy movies. It was so stereotypically bad that it is actually funny. It began with him sitting down and watching the football game and then in between watching the game, he proceeds to whine about how he doesn't like his job and then is like "well, who actually does?" and then when I said that I actually do he got all defensive and said "well, would you do it for free?" At this point, when I informed him that I actually worked there for an entire year with just a transportation stipent of $30 a month and had to work 20 hrs a week at the gym, in addition, just to cover my costs, he was then even more annoyed. He then proceeded to tell me that he thinks that it is "disgusting" that I work trying to end human trafficking for a living. At some point I am then told, in a very rude tone, "you must think you're so smart b/c you went to GW" After this, I am informed of his plan to put vasiline in his co-workers drink (to give him the runs) but really wishes to cut his car brake lines. It was at this point that I went into the bathroom and called my cousin Marissa. Thankfully, as soon as he went to the bathroom, I quickly got the check and then he bounced before my ride came and got me. I called Marissa b/c I didn't want some guy who puts laxitives in people's drinks driving me home. The rest is just a blure. I remember getting in a fight with him b/c he started to say that poor kids in DC school's don't have a chance (he is a teacher in VA) and considering I teach a class in DC public highs schools at least once a week and know so much about my student's personal lives and dreams, that just made me blow up on him. I think I also told him that I was totally un-amused by him.
Things then got better, I basically sat and talked the cute baretender until my ride arrived. He was nice, awkward and told me that he thought my outfit was very fashionable.
On the bright side, somehow the horror of a date only lasted for about an hour!
