Vancouver was spiffy - I want to live there. But I would need buckets of money to do so and a great many of them. Oh, well. The conference was one of the better ones and left meready to tackle the workplace refreshed. Bakeries every few steps and they all vent directly onto the street. Thank goodness I walked everywhere (put on some serious milage) or I would be as big as the proverbial house by now. Truly, I have a serious weakness of character when it comes to fine baked goods. The side trips - yay! Hiked around the perimeter of Stanley Park in some WEATHER (say: hypothermia), trolley tour bus, Capilano Park (suspension bridge & treetop adventures) were fun. Missed Grouse Mtn :(
I take umbrage with those who think that jet lag is all in the mind - these people must be firmly corrected. I slept - alot - and ate - alot - trying to get myself back in some form I could recognize. Better now.
Arranged a small munchie in Shirlington just prior to D-101 last Friday evening. It was very nice to see those who could attend and then to go on to the club after was a lovely extension of the time. I was very proud of my sister the tree elf - she tried many new things and even brought along a couple of her friends as well.
Visited RennFaire the next day and that was crowded but the visual impact was stunning. We met up with some appropriately attired friends who then worked on getting us garbed in the same way. But how did Sas wind up taking my pants home with him? . . . My boy found a beautiful cup for me at Goodly Woods and my sister ordered a leather crown of thorns and flames from the Tiger. I bought the wine for us at the tasting garden and was quite glad that I was not the one driving home. Fried chicken for dinner and an early night of it.
I went home to an unkempt house but they were all glad to see me and that was worth it. Now time to go on back and do some laundry and arrange the rest of the week/month.
