(no subject)
This is a 25 Random Things list I made from when everyone was doing it on Facebook but I didn't want to put it up, but was interested in what would come out if I literally wrote things that came to mind right away. I got bored at #20 and I want to post this to get rid of it and write another entry. Here she is:
1. I don't listen to lyrics of most songs until I've been listening to them for years. I have to physically look them up before I'll pay attention to them. Case in point? Today it blew my mind that Showbiz Pizza and the Silver Jews are mentioned in the same stanza of WHY?s "Good Friday".
2. I only use the handicapped stalls in public restrooms. I like to get as far away from the toilet, as quickly as I can when it flushes.
3. I wrote a paper on Gardner's multiple intelligences Freshman year and it changed the way I view myself.
4. Senior year of high school was probably the most challenging and formative yet. It set a moderately masochistic, "whatever, I can live through this" tone that I'm not sure I like. Yes, I feel fairly equipped, but I wish I could learn to do things the simplest, most direct way the first time, because I rarely do.
5. Frank's RedHot sauce.
6. Currently trying to decide on what the perfect combination of simple/meaningful existence is. Want to find that combination so, so desperately.
7. I'm yours if there are breakfast burritos, TV on DVD, and back rubs.
8. My cousin used to work at Bagel Brothers on Elmwood Ave. Once, when her friend had the closing shift, she brought me in and we danced around on the counter. She swiped me my first (and only) YooHoo from the cooler. She had a nose piercing and I thought she was the coolest person EVER.
9. I was terrified of an abstract painting of Miles Davis hanging in a restaurant we frequented when I was little. One day my dad brought me up close to it and showed me how each part of the picture was really just paint glopped on the canvas. This made him a BAMF in my eyes and made the painting was NBD from then on.
10. I do everything slowly, except walk.
11. Something that annoys me about people is when they completely disregard traffic patterns on the sidewalk or in public places, i.e. stopping abruptly on Comm Ave, switching direction completely in a crowded dining hall, etc.
12. I'm incredibly upset that LED is replacing neon. It's kind of a Buffalo thing.
13. I have a Pavlovian habit of sniffing the pencil right after it comes out of the sharpener. Try it some time.
14. The night Robbie dropped me on my head was one of the best adventures ever.
15. If I'm eating something that doesn't actively taste good, I just keep eating it and eventually I start to like it.
16. I take comfort in exploring seedy bars and neighborhoods.
17. I think about Dupree, SD every day.
18. I get really irritated when I'm trying to eat takeout outdoors and the wind blows all my shit around.
19. I left a little bit of myself in the tanks at the West Side Rowing Club, and at the Saratoga Downtowner Motel.
