I am about halfway done alphabetizing Kendra's dad's record collection of which I have been made curator. What is an amazing collection of titles has sadly fallen into a dilapidated state. All the covers are for the most part in horrible condition. A result of neglect and the arid climate of New Mexico, where they were housed. They all are in need of mylar bags as well as MFSL sleeves (static free sleeves) for the records themselves if they are going to make it another 50+ years. It's all kind of sad too because in the collection are some early mono Beatles, Stones and Dylan records that would be worth serious coin had they been treated with care. I am talking mainly about the cover jackets. The records themselves, for the most part, are in EX condition. I have been having to check every record to make sure the contents match the jacket. Among some of the more interesting discoveries so far was a Timothy Leary "LSD" record inside a Taj Mahal jacket. The record is severely melted/warped on one side/edge, not to mention severely scratched and scuffed. I also found what appears to be a B.B. King bootleg. At least the LP has no copyright info on the label, just the track listing and the word "Soul" in cursive script at the top. I wonder how rare it is. In all honesty, I shouldn't be surprised that the collection is in this poor of shape in light of well Brian takes care of his property. Still sad though.

Addendum: I just found the Leary record on eBay. Price tag = $100. Sadness...

Addendum #2: Seems I did not look closely enough at the B.B. King record. It clearly says "The Best of B.B. King" SDS 102 A for side A and SDS 102 B for side B, respectively. A quick thorough search on the web yielded squadoosh.
