Best surprise/Most recommendable: Living Dead in Dallas. Read the first book in the series Dad Until Dark before this one.
Don't bother: Unless you have dogs I wouldn't bother reading Be the Pack Leader. It was so similar to his other book.
I am currently reading The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman, Managing Your Emotion by Joyce Meyer, and Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie.
