My thoughts on this episode are a bit mixed. There were a lot of things I liked about it, but overall I wasn't as impressed with it as I was with the first four episodes this season? Anyway, time for some thoughts and things.
So the Kanima has been revealed and I get to eat my words from the last post about it TOTALLY NOT BEING JACKSON or anything. I'm not sure how I feel about Jackson being the Kanima. I think that means he's not going to be the Big Bad for the entire season though and maybe something else will come up instead? I also like that Derek explained that, if a bite from an Alpha takes, the change will reflect a person's true nature. Nice twist on the legend.
- Lydia, my poor girl. I got so annoyed that none of them would tell her what was going on. Lydia's the smartest one of the bunch! She already knows something strange is happening, so why not just tell her already? If this isn't corrected by the next episode, I will be so mad. Allison knows better too, considering she went through the same bullshit with Scott last season.
- On the shipping front, Jackson/Lydia gave me some unexpected feelings even though Jackson is still a total douche and Lydia deserves so much better than him, especially after the way he treated her the last four episodes. My feelings for Jackson tend to rotate from DIE IN A FIRE ASSHAT to OMG LET ME HUG YOU, YOU GIANT DOUCHE so yay for character development for him?
Even though I adore Stiles/Lydia, I hope Stiles backs off in the next couple episodes and let Lydia be since she's obviously nowhere near ready to get involved in to another relationship. Plus, she doesn't seem to really like him and I don't want Stiles to keep wandering into Nice Guy territory like he's be doing.
SCOTT/ALLISON WILL FOREVER BE MY OTP FOR THIS SHOW, I'M SORRY I HAD DOUBTS LAST SEASON AND CALLED YOU WHINY, SCOTT. Tyler Posey's acting has gotten much better this season (except when he's shout acting) because during that scene when Scott almost told Allison about what her grandfather did, he had so much emotion and angst in his face it was a tiny bit heart wrenching.
- Speaking of my favorite forever Scott... THAT'S RIGHT DEREK, HE'S GOT HIS OWN PACK, SO SIT DOWN AND TAKE YOUR CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE. Loved that scene to bits. Scott's a better Alpha than you'll ever be, Derek.
- Let's talk about Erica because I don't know what to think about her. I'm not sure I like her characterization so far and I hope it gets better because I really don't want her to be the ~vamp female wolf~ who tries to break Scott/Allison up. However, I did love her and Allison's scenes together, and the way Allison managed to show her up because Allison is the queen of heart or whatever.
- And finally, I just want to squee over Danny because he was adorable in this episode and I ship him/Camera Guy a little bit too much for my own good. I loved that Jackson teased him about having a crush on him too! It was cute and I want more Danny in the future. I also want backstory on how Jackson and Danny became such good friends because, as we've established, Jackson is the BIGGEST DOUCHE at Beacon High and yet his best friend is openly gay and he's obviously supportive of Danny and JACKSON WHY ARE YOU SUCH A COMPLEX, DIMENSIONAL CHARACTER, GOD.
- Also, loling that Stiles asked Allison to shoot Derek in the head. Sterek 5ever, guys.
