The Big Damn Son of Neptune post

Wow, is it really almost October already? I can't believe time flies by that fast!

Oh, who am I kidding, waiting for this book to come out has been totally and completely painful. And we've still got one more week to go!

I've decided to compile a list of things we do know that's going to happen in the Son of Neptune, plus links to the new ( Read more... )

omgggg so excited for this book now that it's drawing closer. Maybe I will put up my own post but likely not. I mean, when I finished the last book I was like DEC JUST WANT GREECE NOW NOTHING CAN GO WRONG but now I'm starting to sound like Michael Palin in the Spanish Inquisition sketch.

Interesting point about the Oracles. I mean obviously there were hundreds of Oracles in the ancient world, Delphi being the most famous and trusted (followed closely by the Oracle of Rhea or Gaea at Dodona and the Oracle of Amon-Ra at Siwa) and idk I guess we assumed that the other two weren't well-known enough to last? BUT ORACLE OF DODONA HMMMMM. Devoted to a Mother Goddess. Could be something in that.

Athena, Ares, Aphrodite, Hades, Zeus, Poseidon and Hephaestus cabinSo...... Annabeth, Ares kid (Clarisse? Hmmm...), Piper, Nico, Jason, Percy, and Leo? IDK seems like not enough new kids to me? I thought it'd be Jason, Piper, Leo, Percy, Hazel, Frank, and maaaaaybe Nico. I like all the little pairs and connections between the godly parents of the ( ... )

Plus, if Annabeth's one of the seven, we'll presumably get narration from her POV so it makes more sense that she makes a big choice while we're "with" her narratively.

asdjalsjdalsjda why did I not realize this before, omg, Annabeth narration, hearts in my eyes. I want this so bad. And yeah, I didn't consider the Janus choice. That'd be interesting if it came back into play, especially since Hera's the one who sent him away in the fist place and he's technically a Roman god.

also Hera and Jason being mother and son plzkthnx

RIGHT? And you know it's such a weird scene and it's never really resolved solidly; I think the fact that everyone was so confused by it when RR is usually such a clear THIS MEANS THIS writer means it was foreshadowing for the new series.

Chelle and I had the crack idea of Hera and Jason having to take down a giant together and her nagging him the whole way through and it was very much based on the RP personalities and likely will never happen ever but oh my gods that would be

On closer inspection, that does not appear to be Kris Jenner, but merely a look-alike.

So...

HOW ABOUT HERA AND JASON, HMMM?

SO MUCH WANT, JESS. SO MUCH WANT. Not expecting any this book given we're at Camp I Will Eat All You Greek Pussys For Breakfast, but hopes for the rest of the series, I have them. And if RR doesn't round out Hera I will be so disappoint. I MEAN he laid down the ground work for that at the end of TLH SO PLEASE RR DON'T FUCK IT UP.

I thought it'd be Jason, Piper, Leo, Percy, Hazel, Frank, and maaaaaybe Nico. That's what I thought, too, and honestly I still think they will be the main seven of the prophecy. At the same time, though, I'm hoping that RR doesn't totally ignore others like Annabeth and Clarisse (and Reyna); he did in TLH, obviously, but then that was also the first book which had to introduce three completely new characters, so there's at least precedent there. Plus, and this is obviously just speculation, I'm wondering if narration will stick to just the Seven. I mean, TLH was Jason, Piper and Leo; we can assume SoN will be Percy, Frank and Hazel; but past that? I assume Nico would have some if he's a member, but if there's someone else who's heavily involved with the plot line, I don't see why they couldn't have their own narration as well, even if they aren't central to the prophecy ( ... )

YOU KNOW ME AND GEN. BIG THREE KIDS ROAD TRIP ACROSS THE ATLANTIC WHAT. UP. oh snap I just realised "across the Atlantic" we are going to have to turn the Titanic jokes up to 11

Eh, I always expected the older kids to be background characters anyway so I was never expecting even PERCY to be involved in the prophecy.

You know what's sad is I remember ages ago there was a PJO Titanic!AU on FFnet and I was like "eh, whatever" and now all of you are making me want it to actually happen. Hell, I'd write it if I didn't have fifty million other things that I need to get done before giving myself more to do...

See, I wasn't either, but now, I have no idea. It's too weird thinking of him without a major role given all of the "aaaaand TRANSFER STUDENT TIEMS" that are going on, but then I kind of don't want to see him as being part of two major prophecies right back to back, even if he's not the key element of it this time.

Just give me Big Three shenanigans and conflict in Who Leads the Group and everyone else just facepalming in the background and desperately wanting to smack some common sense into them okay, okay.
