Wow, is it really almost October already? I can't believe time flies by that fast!

Oh, who am I kidding, waiting for this book to come out has been totally and completely painful. And we've still got one more week to go!

I've decided to compile a list of things we do know that's going to happen in the Son of Neptune, plus links to the new ( Read more... )

Wah, I thought for sure Reyna was a daughter of Athena.

What? She councils Zeus.

We've got to divide the badassery up amongst the gods, apparently. I still have no clue who's daughter she is. The dogs make me think Fortuna, but the 12th praetor/cabin would be Bacchus if the numbers were the same.

Yeah, but you said yourself RSquared is a troll. I was waiting for Reyna to be a daughter of Athena and then all kinds of shenanigans to go down when Percy can't figure out why he wants to be around her all the time even though she's all cold towards him.

I don't trust him at all

Well, even from the description he gives of her in that video, she sounds kind of Athena and Annabeth-like, and I don't know if that's just because RSquared has problems writing a variety of leading ladies (which isn't true) or because he's just trolling...

If there is more Percy-related love triangle bullshit, I will cut all of the things

Yeah I'd really just like for him and Annabeth to find each other and start figuring out all his memories again. THAT WOULD BE IDEAL.

Which means it won't happen until the last chapter of the last book, which is what, five years away or something?

HERE'S THE THING. IF ANNABETH IS NOT THE ATHENA KID IN THE PROPHECY, WHAT IS SHE GOING TO BE UP TO DURING THIS BULLSHIT?

UH, MAKING OUT WITH PERCY, DUH, BECAUSE SHE FOUND HIM AND SHE DON'T CARE ABOUT THIS BULLSHIT ANY MORE.

I dunno. I thought RSquared said the main characters from the previous serious would have a minimal roles to play in the new one, so going by that, it really doesn't make sense to have Percy and Annabeth be the mains from both those cabins? WHO KNOWS.

I would really really love if Percy and Annabeth found each other and were basically all "OKAY PEACE OUT WE'RE GOING BACK TO GOODE NOW HAVE FUN STORMING THE CASTLE." And then they left it entirely up to all the new characters and I could go back to my head!canon in peace ( ... )

Actually, what if it were reversed? What if they wanted Annabeth to be one of the seven and Percy isn't the Poseidon kid to be involved

Well, this could actually be a possibility if Percy isn't the son of Neptune from the title. And that would actually be really interesting character-wise. Just... so many unanswered questions. SO MANY.

This may be relevant to your interests, but according to someone on tumblr who has an early released copy, the third book in the series is called The Mark of Athena.

RR said on his blog that Reyna's godly parent is one we haven't met yet. I GUESS he could mean Minerva, meaning that we haven't met her Roman counterpart, but that would feel a bit sneaky.

I had heard that before as well, and I'm actually relieved because I'm hoping it means RSquared isn't trolling us as hard as I had previously been afraid he might.

He probably is
