Does this mean we're going to be getting a reappearance from Luke at some point?
Aw hell naw. Luke's going for the Isles of the Blessed; his soul is in some baby somewhere.
As for Percy turning into a dick -- I am thinking not. And praying not. We basically got books and books of Percy not letting people bully him around. He has an intrinsic Percyness and personality that will still be there after he loses his memories. I'm thinking more that his wilder personality will clash with the "expansion, conquest, discipline" nature of the kids at Camp Purple, because Percy Jackson does not take to being disciplined, no sir. He will emerge as the alpha male/general/leader figure at Camp Purple because of his sword-fu, but then be like "k everyone needs to chillax and shoot some hoops. mandatory s'mores time." Which brings me to another thing... I wonder if Roman kids have the same ADHD that the Greek ones do? The Roman orientation seems more oriented to produce more legionaries than heroes, and they'd need discipline more than hyperactive battle reflexes.
Oh but Hera, yeah, she can babysit my kids any time. Love that crazy bitch and Leo sassing off to her.
Actually once I got over the FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF WHERE IS PERCY I hated this book a lot less, because my reaction was a lot of FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF WHERE IS PERCY HULK SMASH.
What inspired the "Percy turns into a amnesic dick!" theory was the one line about Jason's nice personality being caused by the Mist or something. Also for maximum Percy/Annabeth angst. But you're right, he probably won't. I wonder how much of his ~loyalty~ flaw will come into play with all of this; I'm thinking it'll help forge the bonds quite a bit.
I have a theory about the whole mist/Jason's personality transplant: The mist mixed up Percy/Jason's personalities so that they'd fit in better to the camp that they were going to. So if Jason's more nice, then perhaps Percy would be more stoic and shit. I'm just hoping R^2 doesn't fuck up Percy's personality too much.
