Saw The Lightning Thief tonight with mysticfushia, da_widget, and a couple of other friends. We were probably the oldest non-parents in the theatre, which was awkward for like .5 seconds.

It'll probably come as no surprise, but I loved this ridiculous movie. Yeah, the plot was nothing like the book and there was some other issues with it, but overall? It captured the ( Read more... )

I think I pretty much agree with all this~ I wanted Annabeth to be smarter, but she was at least badass. Also, wanted more backstory and gods, yesssss. BUT. GROVER. YES~

I guess I really didn't notice that Annabeth had been dumbed down too much - she was still the one solving everything (after it happened, of course) and she knew her stuff when it came to the monsters and the mythology. One of the reasons she might've seemed dumber because Percy was coming up with the battle plans - like the reflection bit with Medusa - and she didn't have to lead him through like she did in the books. She didn't get as much screentime and speaking time as the boys did though, so that probably didn't help anything either.

Yeah, maybe that was it - she didn't lead Percy like she normally did in the books. So it was probably less of a dumbing down of Annabeth and more of a... smarting up of Percy? XD;

That was pretty much what I was thinking. The first time he was like, "I have a plan, guise!" I just sat there and thought, "In what alternate universe does Percy Jackson come up with plans?"

XD IN THE MOVIEVERSE, apparently! I admit, I kinda liked that. I actually liked the dynamic between Percy and Annabeth a lot. It seemed maybe more... even?

Oh, the Percy and Annabeth dynamic was just so squee worthy. They could've easily made it so shitty, but it was just so casual and sweet and they played off each other so well. I loved that they rescued each other in Medusa scene. ♥

Yeah, I really liked that they didn't try to rush it or shove it down our throats, but still made it obvious and definitely casual and cute.

I liked it, but I hated how they cut out Ares and the hints of the Great Prophecy. And then Tunnel of Love part- I was so looking forward to that.

But Logan Lerman and Lotus Casino made up for that.
(Speaking of Logan Lerman, his Cabin was awesome, but there were no walls. Erm, I think I'll go watch him when he sleeos.)

And you know that one line? When Poseidon went "I'll be in you dreams?" My friend (and, sadly, I) could not stop laughing at that.
