I was in Camden today. Nearly didn't make it when there was delays on the Piccadilly line and I got to the school 4 mins before the school day started. That was fun :| But the school was nice enough and year twos are easy - though they did remind me why I teach upper primary. More than a day at a time and I will tear my hair out with the whining.
So I ended up working three days this week. Or will work three days. Tomorrow being Friday and my third day of work. I am somewhat fearful of the agency calling me up and telling me my day has been cancelled. This is not as irrational as it might seem, it does happen - and sometimes when it's too late to get more work. OTOH I'm covering someone who has gone to Oktoberfest so I think I'm probably safe.
Two days of work pays the bills, if I continue living as I am currently. But three days gives me a little savings :) This makes me happy. I might buy me some nice food to eat next weekend (when the pay goes through).
Even better was the fact that I nearly had five days. Five days at five separate schools, which is preferable. There will always be schools who need someone to cover blocks of time because of injury, travel, illness, bereavement etc, no matter the time of year... but it's the day to day illness and PPA cover which makes up the bulk of my work. So yay.
Though this does bring up what to do about travel. I'm currently using pay as you go which is cheaper when I'm not working full time. But a travel card will be cheaper for full time work. I don't know if I can justify full time work yet. Yeah, I have real difficult problems here.
