I took two days off this week (Monday and Thursday) I must have looked fairly awful on Tuesday and Wednesday as when I went in this morning to get my timesheets signed and sent off everyone commented on how much better I looked. To be perfectly fair, the fact that I was in bed with the lights off ready to go to sleep at 9:30pm was probably a good indicator of just how off I was.

I am feeling better this morning, I have to admit, and am going into the local town to look at computers, to replace my own. I have looked into getting my own repaired, but it looks like I would have to ship it to NZ for my warantee to cover it. And knowing my luck it would end up back at Visual Groups and they'd just replace the hard drive. Again. for about the fourth time. It seems to be their standard procedure. 'Oh there is something wrong with this computer' 'what is it?' 'no idea' 'okay, lets replace the hard drive'.

I had to call Dick Smith's in Sylvia Park three times to get through to the insurance company. the first time they gave me a number I couldn't call. the second time they told me I had to call directory in the UK (another £1.50 on top of every other call). On the third call, the girl on the other end of the line finally admitted she didn't actually know what I was supposed to do. 'Well, can you ask?' I said. She did and then came back and apparently no one else knew what to do either so I had to call their head office to find out how to get in touch with the insurance company.

Anyone got any recommendation of good laptop brands for my own use? I will hopefully buy one tomorrow, so if you have any ideas I'd appreciate them.

Oh and Jenn, if you want my HP, you'll have to pay for shipping, but getting it fixed in NZ would be free. Just make sure you tell them that the motherboard needs replacing - HP themselves have said that. Don't let them replace the harddrive.
